Chasing Down the Dawn: Stories from the Road

Today was a very interesting day. I was at work....and i had just got off the phone with a customer when a young man came to me with his hand covering up his face with a scarf. I thought...."that's strange....maybe he's sick and doesn't want any germs"." Well, then he says to me..."This is a robbery and i need you to get all the money from your registers and give it to me." I almost chuckled to myself cause i thought he was kidding. Nope! Then i see him pull out a big butcher knife and tell me to get the money. From that point on....i was on auto pilot. He told me not to push a panic button and i assured him we didn't have one....So i go over to the registers and open the drawers and i ask him if he wants the money in the big bag i was holding up and he says "Yes" so i start to bag the money. He then tells me..."I'm not going to hurt you...i just want the money....and he said this again to reassure me...which i thought was pretty nice under the circumstances. So while i was putting the money in the bag, the other girl that was working with me came out of the backroom and had no idea what was going on. She got up front to where we were and the guy told her not to move when she got close and pointed the knife at her to stay put and that this was a robbery. So i'm bagging his money and i ask if he wants the change too and he says "Yes." Which is pretty strange cause most people don't want the change....just the bills. So i hand him the money bag and he says. "Thank you, you have a nice day ma'am." Then looks over to the other girl Kathy that was with me and says..."You too ma'am...have a good one." (Crazy huh?) Well, i call 911 and the rest is all paperwork from the cops and from corporate.

After i got off work today i went to the gym to kind of forget it all and get my mind clear and i kept thinking. Wow, the big man upstairs really was looking out for me today. For one, it was a knife and not a gun. Which by the way… i think if he did have a gun i would have peed in my pants. For two, he was so polite...firm but polite. As you can read from my story...he even told me to have a nice day! Ha! Crazy!  So not having a gun and him not yelling at me and threatening me makes it a lot less traumatizing as it could have easily been worse. How many times has it been the complete opposite for people who were in my situation…..people even killed so there are no witnesses. So thanks to Yah for watching out for me today!!

I do have tons of pictures from Sukkot up on my myspace if you guys wanna go check it out...many of you are in them. I have a lot more info there too if you wanna go check it out....at least until i can built my xanga website up. It's www.myspace.com/sandswithafist

Well......my dog Heidi was put to sleep last Friday.
She had really bad cancer. I never imagined that losing
her would be so hard.  She was always there.....she was
part of our family for 15 years and it's really hard to not
imagine that she is still here.  We still have her bowl of
food and water still out....and whenever i drop food on
the ground i still expect her to be there.....licking it up.
Even when i open the door i still think she will be there to
great me....but she won't.  It was the hardest thing to see
her backing out of the driveway with my Dad and
brother....knowing that it would be the last time i would
see her.....and knowing that she had no idea that it ws the
last time she would see me.

       On a positive note....i got a job at Potbelly's.  I am playing
guitar and singing!!!  For a job!!   My first day was
Wendsday.....i was really nervous....like always.....but it turned
out pretty good.  Coming up with a few hours of music is
not easy. A guy even asked if i had a card cause he said
he was interested to hire me for some of his party's he has.
Whoo hooo!! Of course i didn't have a card...who would
have known....but he gave me his. I guess he's a lawyer.....that's
what it said on his card.  Then after i was done this couple
asked me to come sit with them.....i was like "ok."  I sat and
talked with them for a good 20 minutes.  It was really weird.....they
were like asking my whole life story....it was hilarious.  They were
really nice though.  It turns out that i get paid $20 an hour
and free food!!! My jaw totally droped when she told me......
with an additional thank you....thank you.....thank you!!!
I work only once a week right now.....which is good for right
now.....on Wendsday's from 6-8 and after this week 5-8 on
Wendsday's.  So if any of ya'll are in the area......come on in.....
they have really good samiches.

Attention music lovers everywhere........

The movie Walk the Line is one of the best movies you will

ever see.  Even if you don't know much of Johnny Cash....

you will be captivated by the sheer emotional caliber of this movie.

Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon are both brilliant as

Cash and Carter.  I highly recommend this movie to anyone

especially to those with an interest in music.....you will leave

the theater inspired. I know i did.
